The first image shown above, of the woman standing in a river, holding the snake in her arms, is titled Kairos, a word which I learned recently from Robert MacFarlane (who learned it from the mycologist Giuliana Furci) in his recent book, Is A River Alive? (His best yet, I think.)  Kairos, from ancient Greek, means: a favorable moment to act decisively.
 
The second image shown here is a sneak peek of the bottom of a larger painting that is titled (hint!) Physeter.  A free diver exploring a nighttime sea...guess who sleeps above them!
 
The Beheld calendar is a full size (12x13" pages, opens to 24" vertically) wall calendar, with large, hand-painted grids, thoughtfully curated with occasional noteworthy historical events.  This calendar courts the magic around us every day on this planet, and is meant to be a place in your home that inspires reflection, sparks wonder, and encourages you toward your own unique ways of deep knowing.  
 
The motif across this year's paintings has emerged in the studio these past few months; it is the threshold.  A place of choice, of passage from and passage to, of surrender.   When we find ourselves at a threshold, we'd best call up our power and stand in it.  When we find ourselves walking through a threshold, we remember clearer than ever that we need others; our lives are tied to all others; we are not, cannot ever be, alone.  When we pass through a threshold, we submit to change.  We do not return the same.
 
All calendars ship in November and early December, in the order that I receive the orders.  Shipping will cost 10$, which you will select at checkout from the dropdown shipping menu.  If you are local, I will not be arranging personal pickups (it has been almost a part-time job the past few years to do so!) but I will offer several days in November where you may pick up at my studio in Burnsville for a certain number of hours.  
 
Calendars are printed by the small Philadelphia printshop Fireball Printing Co.  They've done a great job the past four years, and I love to support them.  
 
Calendars will ship flat between repurposed cardboard.
