Giving room. Penland, August 2017.
Bundled sage and its smoke. Wood grain and a good knot. Turtle shell. A plate washed clean. A fading winter bouquet. Folds and angles. Meditations in hatching.
Sort of how I like to start a new day...
and sort of like the poem in which Wendell Berry wrote:
"How fine to sweep the floor,
opening the doors
to let the air change,
and then to sit down
in the freshened room,
day pouring in the window!"
Original mixed media diptych was made with onion skin dye, black tea, colored pencil, pen, white pen. (15" x 44" is the original size)
