Between the light of the fire she built and a full moon, she quieted. The door behind her ear creaked open, and the night wind entered, to visit with her heartbeat, old friends. The heat they made together brought warmth to all places. She listened to the stories they shared all night, fetching logs for her fire, thawing out in this pause. When the sun rose, she was ready with a greeting.
